The Haddonfield Crew Club was established in 2003, as an interest in high school rowing was growing in South Jersey . For the first several years, the club rowed out of a ramshackle ramp near the Cuthbert Avenue bridge over the Cooper River in Cherry Hill. Then in the summer of 2006, the Camden County Boathouse opened down the river in Pennsauken and the club bunked in with several other high school, college and independent crew clubs.
Though completely funded by members and their families, the club got varsity status at Haddonfield High School in 2007 and its members get athletic letters just like the other sports at the school. The club started its first varsity fall season in 2008 and competes in all the major regattas, from the Head of the Charles in Boston in the fall, to the early spring Manny Flicks on the Schuylkill to Stotesbury, the largest high-school regatta, to the Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Regatta, the high school national championships.
